Takahashi ED-ED Series 7.5mm
Pros:High quality, no ghosting, no lateral color, lightweight, bright views.
Cons:Expensive, difficult to find used.
Comments:This is a wonderful eyepiece. These Taks are so well made and the glass is so professionally made that it's a real pleasure to view in just about any telescope. I wonder how they do in a Tak telescope?
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
This occular was tested in two telescopes. My f/10 SCT and a friend's f/5 Newtonian with a great night of star hoping. This EP as well as the others in this line are expensive at $180, but once again, it's worth the money. Well spent for sure.
It is superb with the planets - Mars and lunar viewing is great. There is no lateral color and stars are once again pinpoint with the black background. This EP is very bright throughout and a real pleasure to use. It is extremely well made, threaded for filters and barlows very well. There was no ghosting at all and no problems were noticed during the time spent in both scopes. But it seemed to us that the views - Mars for example - was brighter, clearer, and sharpest in my f/10 slow scope.
In both the Takahashi eyepieces reviewed, I can recommend them for anyone. If it works well in both a fast scope as well as slow scope, you can't go wrong.Sort by
