    I had a great Friday night with my Big Mak (Orion 180mm Mak-Cass) and I stayed out late enough for Saturn to get good elevation. I did some lucky imaging with the trusty old ASI 224mc and produced the following image:

    You can see the more edge-on appearance as compared to this image from 2021:

    Saturn is moving toward an edge-on apparition in 2025. Will be most interesting!

    Thanks, my friend. I'm planning on getting an image on the night/morning of opposition to highlight the Seeliger effect. I can't wait until Saturn's rings are full edge-on in 2025!

    Some nice details in both of your images.

    Doing visual observing there are a couple of tricks to use when viewing Saturn.
    If you use a warm toned eyepiece like a older TeleVue plossl it can help enhance the planet and using a cooler toned eyepiece like a Vixen plossl with enhance the rings.
    I wonder if there is a way to use a similar technique photographically and the combine the images?
