5.0 Focuses like butter, crisp views!

      Pros:

      Accurate,Quality Lenses,Smooth Focuser,Compact,Strong Construction

      Cons:

      Mirror lock

      Comments:

I got this scope to piggyback as an imaging scope on my 8"SCT. I couldnt be happier with it. Not only is the observing with it great, the optics are crisp and has great color, but focusing with this is like cutting through warm butter with a hot knife - it is so smooth and the dual-speed crayford is very nice to have, especially for imaging. The only thing I dont like is that when you use the lock knob for the mirror to lock the focus, it slightly moves the mirror, which changes the focus ever so slightly. Not a big deal for observing, but when imaging I have to compensate for it before locking the focus knob so when I lock it, the movement moves it into focus. Other than that, it is a fantastic scope!

      4.0 Great scope

      Pros:

      Compact,Strong Construction

      Cons:

      Comments:

This scope is well built and provides very clear views. I have purchased the WO rings and plate to mount this to a EQ5 mount with goto. With diagonal, 100 degree eyepiece and scope rings, the whole thing stays at under 12 lbs. This is less than half my mount's load capacity, making tracking for photos more accurate. I reversed the included foot with 3/8 inch mount so I can also use the scope without rings on a Manfrotto camera tripod to use it as a grab and go scope. Only downside is the light gathering ability and focal length of the scope keeps high power magnification out of reach. Great wide field views up to about 160x with Televue eyepieces, but after that you start getting a lower contrast image. I now plan to use this scope as a low power wide field view, mated with a second refractor with a 120mm diameter and stronger magnifications.
