6" of Visual Pleasure
Pros:Wonderful optics and mechanics. A true work of art!
Cons:The 8" refractor my 6" makes me long for!!
Comments:Although the scope I own is the original CNC version, it is still very pertinent to the newly produced scopes by TMB. I have owned this scope for about 4 years, after a severe bout of aperture fever. I was looking for the ultimate large refractor that could be easily set up in the field. After much research on APO refractors I was down to two manufacturers, AP and TMB. TMB won out for the facts that it is attainable in a reasonable amount of time and has as good a reputation as the other top APO designer.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I love this scope, as does everyone who looks through it. It has some of the best optics I have ever looked through and the mechanics of the scope are top notch. With the large rotatable focuser assembly, viewing at any angle is easily attainable. Imagers are just as pleased by the focuser's rotatable feature and the smoothness of the focuser.
There is nothing like the views possible through a good refractor. It is just amazing to look at M45 and to actually see the nebulosity surrounding the stars. Or to look down into the craters of the Moon at high power. Refractors are my love in the astronomy world. And if you ever get a chance to view through one, do it and see why I love them so much.Sort by
