Manufacturer Description
Tele Vue is pleased to introduce the Delos, mid-to-short focal length line of 20mm eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepieces. Every optical, mechanical, and ergonomic aspect was rethought to achieve reference-standard performance for any visual application.
The Delos was conceived as a narrower field Ethos. Reducing the field to 72° allowed freedom to increase eye-relief, while controlling pupil aberrations, all without making the eyepiece too large. With Ethos performance standards as benchmarks, the Delos design achieves full field sharpness, virtually perfect f θ (theta) distortion mapping, and color neutrality. Image fidelity is maximized utilizing glass matched multicoatings and anti-reflection surfaces throughout the eyepiece.
Contrast is further enhanced with a new, continuously adjustable height eyeguard system that can be locked in any position. Since the Delos eye-lens measures a quite large 35mm in diameter, preventing stray light from reflecting off the first surface and extraneous light from entering your eye pays off in a nice increase in perceived contrast. The eyeguard's sliding action allows for positioning the soft rubber eyeguard at the ideal height to suit the observer's preference. Indicator marks on the eyepiece body are handy reference guides for setting your perfect position. The eye-guard can also rotate for Dioptrx users.
All Tele Vue Delos eyepieces have proprietary tuned full multi-coatings, blackened lens edges, high index glasses, fold-down eyeguards, rubber grip rings, cover for the eyeguard, an undercut in the barrel for extra locking security, and filter threads. The Delos eyepieces are parfocal up to the focal length of 12mm within the series, and with several other TeleVue eyepieces. All Tele Vue eyepiece lines are proprietary, in-house designs manufactured to their specifications and tolerances. Every eyepiece is individually tested at Tele Vue to ensure it meets high optical and cosmetic standards.
Concept: "It was natural to take lessons learned from the tremendously successful Ethos project and apply it going forward. In the fall of 2008, Paul Dellechiaie was tasked to investigate a long eye-relief eyepiece design in the 70° AFOV range, retaining the key performance goals met with Ethos. My father named Paul's design, "Delos." Delos is a beautiful Greek island which happens to be the mythical birthplace of Apollo, god of light. More importantly the name was chosen to give recognition to Paul, principal designer of both Delos and Ethos." — David Nagler

Delos 6
Pros: Cons: Comments:Magnificent eyepiece. I picked this up to round out my Delos collection. Really great views through my ES ED127 refractor. You won't regret getting this eyepiece.

Apr 20, 2016Good EP, weird eye placement
Pros:Strong Construction,Quality Lenses,Accurate
Cons:Difficult to Use
Comments:I've owned two of these at different times. Got a second one thinking I would try it again because when I got the first one, I felt that eye placement was tricky no matter what I did with the eyecup or screw up design.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Good quality, but I find the 5mm Pentax XW a lot better for eye placement, and I can leave the eyecup on the 5mm XW all of the way in the down position. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Dec 1, 2014The best 72 AFOV eyepiece ever made....!
Pros:Quality Lenses,Accurate,Easy to Use,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This eyepiece gives me 200x in my scope and I was amazed with the image clarity it delivered when I observed the Jupiter.I observed several double stars with it and found to have a noticeable resolution and contrast. When pointing to the Trapezium region of Orion I was able to see E and F components even in the bad weather and what a great view of the Eskimo nebula in Gemini.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
These all are my old targets and I can't remember any previous observation which gives me this much of contrast and clarity. So I'm busy with Delos and love to spend more time behind the eyepiece....!This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Sep 5, 2014Televue Delos 6mm
Pros:Accurate,Easy to Use,Quality Lenses,Compact,Lightweight,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Mechanical Design 10
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
As usual TeleVue stands out for its perfect mechanics of his eyes. Everything is in the right place and it works egragiamente. Including the system that lifts the shell of the hood, which can be locked at the desired height. Blackening perfect interior, so that one feels no reflection.
Ergonomics 10
I can say that by placing the twist up in the middle and lifting the rubber hood I found the perfect location. In addition, the tapered shape provides excellent grip, even with gloves.
Engraving 10
It's distortion-free with the comfort of an armchair frau. Details that best in LVW 5mm, even in conditions of good seeing.
Color correction 9
To me the white looks white, as they love the most hardened ortoscopisti. The eyepiece has no spurious colors or earthy tones. In my opinion very faithfully respects the colors of the observed object. With this eyepiece I could observe on Jupiter subtle shade differences in the equatorial zone, ranging from white / blue to white / yellow. The vote was nine because I never compared with a distortion-free.
Correction of the coma 9
Field almost perfectly exploitable edge to edge. The image is corrected to about 50This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
