60 Small-Scope ToursPros:
Very enjoyable read; Monthly tours; Targets for 4" scopes.Cons:
No hardcover designComments:
I've always enjoyed the monthly installments of Sue French's Small-Sampler in Sky and Telescope magazine. She has the ability to communicate the wonders of the universe without being too technical or overwhelming. So, it was a nice surprise to see a compilation of many of her columns condensed into a book that was geared for amateur astronomers who more than likely owned telescopes in the 4" or larger range.
The book has numerous finder charts, photos and celestial targets that will keep you busy year round. The tours are broken down on a monthly basis and list all of the familiar targets, but also some that you may not be acquainted with. What a wonderful way to plan your observing schedule months in advance!
Again, this is a wonderful and enjoyable book. It can be ordered from Amazon.Com or Orion and usually sells around $25 for a new copy. Buy this book and I'm sure you'll be using it more often than you imagined.Sort by
