2.0 If the collimator isn't collimated...

      Pros:

      Ease of use

      Cons:

The laser itself was not collimated and adjustment screws are filled in/hidden.

      Comments:

I picked up this laser collimator on the advice of a store clerk, who told me that his purchase of this laser collimator improved his collimation and his views greatly. This product is easy to use; I just popped it in the eyepiece holder and made the necessary adjustments to my secondary and primary. It hadn't even occurred to me that the laser itself might not be pointing straight out of the device. However, when I spun the collimator in the eyepiece holder, a nice one inch circle was traced out on my primary - evidence that the collimator itself was way out of alignment. Worse, there aren't any screws to adjust the device. I took the collimator back to the store, and we tried seven or eight before we found one that was even close to being collimated. I think that what I have ended up with is an expensive laser pointer. Not recommended.

      UPDATE:
It turns out that there are adjustment screws for this collimator - they are filled in during manufacturing with some sort of black rubbery adhesive/filler. After removing the filler (and the laser warning sticker over top of one of the filled screws), I was able to collimate the laser. Works just fine now, but looks kind of messy.
