May 22, 2009Big Binos in a Lightweight Package
Pros:Excellent Optics,Nice protective case,Light weight
Cons:None
Comments:I wanted something to use very quickly, rather than a grab-and-go telescope with tripod (whether it be GEM or an Alt-Az). In my area, I often have to move several yards or even blocks to catch a one time sight...as was the case with Comet Holmes last year. The local weather is not always accommodating either, and sometimes a quick look is all that I get.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The Oberwerk 20x80s fit the bill perfectly. These lightweight, 3 1/2 pound, big binos perform satisfactorily handheld and are top notch when used with some means of support...whether it be a tripod or other binocular platform.
The wide field views through the Oberwerks are magnificent! A three dimensional spacewalk! The stars are sharp across approximately 95% of the field of view.
The waterproof 20x80s are well protected in a hard case and a I find that they also work well for terrestrial viewing. Highly recommendedThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
