      5.0 Good concept

      Pros:

      Works well, good quality

      Cons:

      None really

      Comments:

This is a different kind of dew shield compared to most. I use it on my C8 SCT. It fits completely over the scope like a blanket, and protrudes out in front of the objective a good distance. It is supposed to help keep the scope warm to help at least slow the formation of dew. A dew heater would prevent dew altogether, but that requires power and the insulated shield does not. I have been able to photograph for 4 to 5 hours one night without dew forming....as soon as I took off the dew shield, dew appeared pretty quickly. So at least I know this insulated dew shield works. This concept would seem to do better than just a regular dew shield which fits onto the front of the scope only, although I have not made direct comparisons to other brands. The overall quality is good. It wraps around the scope and closes over the scope using velcro....so removal is quick and easy. It has black fabric lining the inside, but this has never come off or caused any problems with lint or debris on the scopes objective lens. Mine cost around $60 to $70, but it certainly does its job well. Definitely recommended if you are going to have the scope outdoors for long periods of observing or photography.
