Apogee 88mm binocs
Pros:Right angle eyepieces which are interchangeable.
Cons:Can get out of collimation & can't be inexpensively repaired.
Comments:I got these because the weren't too expensive for what I was getting. The eyepieces are interchangeable. The right angle makes it easy to view the zenith. Image quality is good (they say "apo"). They weigh about 13 pounds so you will need a good tripod. I got beautiful images of the sun with a Baader filter that I put together. These binoculars could be great for star parties. I guess it's good that they have been discontinued because they've gotten out of collimation after about a year or so of use and a local repair shop said it would cost $250 just in labor to fix them.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? No
Orion sells a 70mm version. If you get them make sure they are collimated when you get them and that Orion can repair them later on.Sort by
