Manufacturer Description
The Agena Astrophotography Flip Mirror enables you to find, center, and focus a target object visually with a 1.25" telescope eyepiece, then image the object with a CCD or DSLR camera. Since the image collected by the telescope is directed to either an eyepiece or a camera via a levered mirror, there is no need to change out your eyepiece for the camera. All accessories remain attached to the flip mirror assembly and the image is simply redirected by the mirror to the eyepiece when needed. You can switch back and forth between camera and eyepiece with ease.
The high reflectivity internal mirror directs the telescope image 90 degrees up into the eyepiece. A smooth helical focuser on the eyepiece holder allows you to bring the eyepiece parfocal with the camera. When the target object is focused in the eyepiece, flipping the lever on the side of the assembly swings the mirror up and out of the way to allow the image to enter the camera attached to the back of the assembly. This provides a focused CCD image with none of the usual swapping hassle.
The Agena Astrophotography Flip Mirror was designed for use with 1/2” or smaller format astrophotography CCD or DSLR cameras to provide full sensor exposure. A male T-thread on the assembly’s metal housing allows direct attachment of the CCD or DSLR camera body. The assembly is connected to the telescope's 1.25" focuser via the front nosepiece, which can be removed to expose T-threads for direct attachment to the focuser. The nosepiece is internally threaded for 1.25" filters.

A very good product but..........
Pros: Cons: Comments:This flip mirror works very well in every way. However, it should come with an adapter to insert a camera's nosepiece into as well as another for an eyepiece to reach focus. Aside from that, there's no significant short comings I can see.

Feb 4, 2016Don't Photograph Without It
Pros:Easy to Use,Accurate
Cons: Comments:I am new to astrophotography, but had used a flip mirror before. It got to the point I had to have one for myself. Using a flip mirror takes the guesswork out of finding the target and greatly speeds up the process...put the target in the center of the eye piece, flip the mirror and the target is on the screen.

Jan 23, 2016Worth its weight in gold!
Pros:Strong Construction,Accurate,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I bought a popular planetary camera and spent most of my time trying to get the planet in the field of view of the camera. It was so frustrating that I almost sold the camera. I tried the flip mirror and I was able to center the planets in the field of view of the camera effortlessly. It made all the difference in the world and I'm enjoying my planetary camera that has such a small chip in it. It's worth its weight in gold in my opinion!

Oct 6, 2015Worth its weight in gold!
Pros:Accurate,Easy to Use,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:The first two nights out with my new planetary imager was pure misery. I couldn't find Saturn to image but I did manage to get a star for focusing. I ordered the flip mirror unit and what a difference! I can now find and center whatever object I want to image almost immediately. I can't quite get both my 12.5mm illuminated reticle eyepiece and the camera in focus at the same time but good enough to find and center the object and then focus the object on my laptop screen. After some reading on the Internet I should be able to fix that minor problem. Without this product I would have sold the camera!

Jan 19, 2014Helps with high power imaging
Pros:Strong Construction,Accurate,Easy to Use,Lightweight
Cons: Comments:Super fast shipping and extremely friendly people at Agena!
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The flip mirror is high quality and easy to use. Just be careful when adjusting the mirror tilt. It is easy to screw the adjusting screw all the way into the housing but it is easy to reinstall. This makes finding objects and focusing while imaging so much easier. I can finally focus on a star and move back to the object for imaging. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
