Manufacturer Description
ED stands for "Extra-Low Dispersion". These eyepieces use optical glass in which two of the lens elements are crafted from ED glass which is a special grade of glass that provides much superior refractive properties as compared to standard optical glass. This results in much better color correction. ED glass is often the type used in many expensive camera lenses and high-end refractor telescopes costing thousands of dollars.
Our ED-series eyepieces are available in a 1.25" barrel in 10 focal lengths (2.3, 3.8, 5.2, 7.5, 9.5, 12.5, 14, 18, 21 and 25mm). They feature a six-element lens design that provides significantly reduced chromatic aberration, high resolution and excellent sharpness without compromising image brightness. Their long 20mm eye relief means that even eyeglass wearers can take in the full 55-degree apparent wide field of view (AFOV).
All ED-series eyepieces are fully broadband multi-coated for maximum image brightness. Lens edges are blackened throughout for improved contrast. The eyepiece housing is precision machined from aluminum and clear-anodized to a lustrous finish. A rubber traction ring ensures a secure grip and a rubber eyeguard helps position your eye to block out stray light. The chrome barrel features a setscrew recess for added security. All eyepieces are parfocal and are threaded to accept standard 1.25" filters. Each eyepiece comes in a bolt case with two plastic end caps. Compare these with the ED eyepieces sold in very similar focal lengths by two of the "Big-3" telescope companies and you'll realize the savings we offer.

Excellent choice for money
Pros:Accurate,Compact,Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons:Difficult To Focus
Comments:Superb eyepiece with great eye relief! I was used to plossl but this one made the difference. The only problem I had is to focus with my 10'' Skywatcher Dob, maybe because of light polluted sky. As a total would definitely recommend this EP.

May 1, 2010Lives up to the claims
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Since purchasing this eyepiece, it is the one that I initially start out with viewing. With the 55deg view, it gives a nice expanse of the object. I use this with a Celestron XLT 6" refractor, and the views have been outstanding. The view is crisp and clear within the whole FOV. I have been entertained with views of Mars that I have never seen I was actually able to see, though faintly, dark areas on the planet surface. I plan on getting several more of these 'ED' eyepieces. Thank you Agena for an outstanding product.

Mar 2, 2010Great eyepiece, great price
Pros:Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:Started out with six of these ED eyepieces, but had a gap between the 9.5 and 5.2. Most nights the 5.2 was to much for my C11, and I always wanted to see if I could get a little more than the 9.5. Now, the 7.5 is usually the highest I can go on an average night. I have the whole set, and every mag I could need for the price of one or two "premium" eyepieces. These are definately a step up from my Celestron plossls and the lack of need to refocus between eyepiece changes is great. I'm glad I got them, and glad I got them through Agena.

Nov 8, 2009Sharp and clear
Pros:Accurate,Strong Construction,Quality Lenses
Cons:Heavy
Comments:After using a 21 mm Agena AstroProducts 1.25" ED Eyepiece I knew I had to replace my 9mm Meade Plosil with this one. Larger FOV. Way better eye relief and a clear sharp image from edge to edge. I see twice as much with less eye strain than I ever could with my 9 mm.

Mar 30, 2009Fantastic Eyepiece
Pros:Strong Construction,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:This is a great EP. The FOV is large and pretty clear to the edges. I've used it in my 120mm F/5 and the moon looked great. The color and clarity are excellent and the eye relief is great. I can't see myself looking through a Plossl again.
