There's been buzz about it for months, but Tele Vue Optics finally announced their commemorative 'Apollo 11' eyepiece is ready for release in early December. Only 300 of these eyepieces will be sold worldwide, and we're now taking pre-orders.

This specially designed 11mm eyepiece commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and Al Nagler's role in designing optics for the lunar module simulator for the Apollo program. The eyepiece was developed by Al, David Nagler, and Tele Vue optical designer Paul Dellechiaie, and it's a beautifully crafted piece of optics. It comes in a specially designed presentation box with a message from Al Nagler and a serialized commemorative medallion matching the serial number of the eyepiece. (The Apollo 11 eyepiece serial numbers range from 004 to 303).

This rare and beautiful eyepiece will look great on your shelf. But it will look even better in the focuser of your telescope. It's perfect for observing deep-sky sights and planets (and of course the Moon) at moderate magnification. The eyepiece features a wide 85-degree apparent field of view and a generous 18mm eye relief along with 1.25" and 2" barrels for mounting in any focuser.

Learn more about this heirloom-quality eyepiece at the link below, and pre-order your own Apollo 11 eyepiece to secure a piece of astronomy and space-faring history.
